The goal of our quality systems is to consistently deliver safe flavors and fragrances of the highest quality while partnering with our customer service, purchasing, production, and distribution colleagues to ensure timely service.

Bell works collaboratively with our customers regarding their quality needs. When Bell and a customer partner to create a flavor or fragrance solution, the quality group collaborates with R&D and the customer for the development of mutually agreeable specifications and a testing profile.

Once specifications are set, Quality holds itself accountable for the approval of only products that meet these requirements. We are able to accomplish this through a rigorous adherence to proper lab standards and techniques, effective technical training of personnel, and the core beliefs that we work safely, that we see every task as an opportunity to show what our best work looks like, and we consistently apply ourselves to the work we do.

We look at the interface of our Quality group and the customer as a partnership; one that relies on trust and communication. We are confident in our testing methods and results and encourage our customers to share their results in order to drive trust and grow the relationship.

Our SQF certification works hand-in-hand with ethical sourcing, ensuring that our products satisfy rigorous safety and credible standards. Your customers deserve the very best, and we work hard to guarantee that we will satisfy the most stringent requirements.

We work in tandem with R&D and Quality Control to test all new suppliers’ raw materials and vet them through our rigorous process. We evaluate the past performance of all our suppliers to continually assess if they have met our strict standards. This is our way of ensuring the highest quality on all inbound materials.

We rank our suppliers each year according to several criteria, not just price. We believe quality begins with inbound raw materials, the foundation of our creations.

Acting as a bridge between R&D and you, these detail-oriented industry veterans work tirelessly to ensure that our flavors meet your labeling requirements. With the enormous increase in labeling claims for food and beverage, we are here to make it easy for you to get your documentation quickly and your product safely to market.

Europe Regulatory Affairs

The Regulatory Affairs department at Bell ensures that all products and raw materials fulfil the applicable judicial regulations, recommendations of industrial associations and specific customer needs. Close cooperation with different industry and government associations insure a timely implementation of all requirements set by European and National authorities.

These requirements include:

  • The examination of flavours and flavour extracts according to European regulations on foodstuffs and IOFI specifications (International Organisation of the Flavour Industry)
  • The examination of flavours and ingredient specialities for Kosher and HALAL suitability

REACH – stands for the Registration, Evaluation, Authorisation of Chemicals. This new EU regulation centralises and simplifies chemicals legislation throughout Europe and entered into force on 1st of June 2007. The declared aim is to improve the level of knowledge about the dangers and risks that chemicals may pose. Companies are expected to assume even more responsibility for the safe handling of their products. The Federal Authorities here offer a wide range of information about REACH so that small and medium-sized companies can also quickly become familiar with the new rules.
