Bell Flavors & Fragrances, Inc. seeks Maintenance Mechanic, for Middletown, NY location.

Position Overview

This position is responsible for diagnosing, repairing, and maintaining all plant equipment, physical facility, and buildings and grounds as required by the manager.   Work will be performed under the supervision and guidance of management and/or licensed professionals in the field.

  Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Perform preventive maintenance on equipment as outlined in company PM manual
  • Repair production equipment utilizing mechanical knowledge and using printed repair manuals
  • Assist in replacing production equipment
  • Maintain a neat and orderly workplace and shop
  • Maintain building and grounds of the facility to the standards required of management
  • Adhere to all safety and regulatory requirements for the operational area being repaired
  • Maintain inventory of all tools
  • Perform other duties as required by management
  • Work within proper GMP, HACCP, Allergen, SSOP, Kosher, Safety guidelines

Education, Training and/or Work Experience Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED required
  • Minimum 2 years of experience in industrial maintenance environment
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, including the ability to effectively comprehend oral and written English instructions and convey information about the task. Read and understand repair manuals
  • Computer proficiency (MS Office – Word, Excel and Outlook); must be able to learn and use the Maintenance Edge Software (Facility Dude)
  • Ability to take measurements in different units of measure and convert between units of measure
  • Must be able to work under pressure and meet deadlines
  • Ability to work independently and to carry out assignments to completion within parameters of instructions given, prescribed routines, and standard accepted practices
  • Forklift and aerial lift certification required

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Requirements

  • Good general knowledge of machinery and equipment (e.g. bearings, seals, switches, motors, sensors, pumps, mixers)
  • Frequent movement around maintenance shop and factory to locate spare parts/equipment
  • Frequent opening of boxes, inspecting paperwork, and placing contents in designated locations – requires ability to frequently lift, carry, push and pull up to 75 pounds
  • Ability to climb ladders and work at high elevations
  • Manual dexterity and reaching into small places
  • Constantly able to maintain regular, punctual attendance
